It is sad to hear that veteran actor Kim Joo-hyuk’s passed away after a devastating car accident on 30 October. Local broadcaster JTBC reported that his car collided with another car followed by being overturned at the stairs of a nearby apartment and caught fire in Gangnam at 4.30pm KST. He was taken to the hospital for immediate medical assistance but died at 6.30pm KST.

The investigation team reported that Kim Joo-hyuk suffered chest pains and has severe heart condition that caused the accident.

The filming of Running Man in Busan is put on hold after Kim Joo-hyuk’s girlfriend, Lee Yoo-young, learns about his passing. Following the loss of Kim Joo-hyuk, yesterday’s V Live Broadcast for upcoming films Silent Witness and Brother were cancelled.

Kim Joo-hyuk is known for his first leading role in Lovers in Prague (2005), alongside actress Jeon Do-yeon and actor Kim Min-jun. In it he plays as detective Choi Sang-hyun who meets the president’s daughter Yoon Jae-hee (Jeon Do-yeon) while searching for his ex-girlfriend in Prague. Despite different social statuses, their romance blossoms and they overcome the troubles from keeping them apart.

We will never forget the sparkling chemistry between Kim Joo-hyuk and Jeon Do-yeon in the sweet romantic scenes in the show – them spending time together in the city of Prague, kiss scenes, and heated quarrels.

A regular cast in 2 Days 1 Night

Kim Joo-hyuk is a regular cast in the popular variety show 2 Days 1 Night from December 2013 to November 2015. Known as ‘Gutaengie Hyung’, he went through many challenges together with his fellow casts.

You may remember him together with Kim Jun-ho and Kim Jong-min as the infamous 3G (cramp in Korean) brothers. Let’s not forget the hyung-dongsaeng relationship between Kim Joo-hyuk and Korean celebrity Jung Joon-young.

He is the oldest member in the cast but he is funny, caring, and competitive throughout the show.

Kim Joo-hyuk played alongside actress Choi Ji-woo as her friend Jung Sung-Chan who helps Ham Joo-Ran (Choi Ji-woo) to get back her ex-boyfriend. How? By taking beautiful photos of her and post them on her social media page to get likes in hopes of getting back together.

He received great feedback for his performance in conveying the reality of reporters through subtle emotions and impressive acting.

Kim Joo-hyuk is a wonderful gentleman – breaking the walls to improve his acting skills in diverse roles, showing his cheerful side in 2 Days 1 Night, and his bright and confident aura. He will be dearly missed.
